#The_Wall
#TheWall is a dance creation commissioned by Elisa Carrillo Cabrera and Mikhail Kaniskin that integrates a contemporary discourse created in collaboration with a national and international team. This production is made up of Mexican and German creatives, Mexican dancers and an operational team all coordinated by the foundation Elisa Carrillo Cabrera AC and under the Choreography of Yeri Anarika.
We live in a contradiction: the era of walls in a globalized world.
This contemporary dance piece, with a tragicomic tone, invites us to be witnesses of physical and invisible walls, from a place that shakes and questions current societies.
Walls, as described by Marc Engelhardt, are "fear cast in concrete". They are erected to exclude the undesirable. Inequality is consolidated: the rich protect themselves from the poor, the winners from the losers. What is even more disheartening is that this rise of walls distracts us from confronting the aggravating problems of our planet: climate change, hunger, epidemics and many other global problems have no logic of division.
Throughout the piece, rhythms of the Mexican group CitadinoSON merge with an electro-acoustic proposal by German musicians Gebrüder Teichmann, which together with the multimedia work of artist Josue Abraham Palma accentuate the choreography, which is also complemented by the costumes and props of Carolina Jimenez.
Under her idea, Yeri Anarika has created the work in conjunction with the creative team, Cast of guest dancers who are an essential part of the energy and quality of the dance language.
The creation has been developed from the exchange of ideas, experiences and visions of the artists from different artistic branches that make up this project.
