The artists* are inspired by multiple differences and similarities found in the feminine and masculine and how society deals with them. The choreographer's basic inspiration was to show a female dancer and a male dancer as well as a female musician and a male musician on stage. Shostakovich's duo abolishes the binary classification of female and male because both instruments play all the motifs.
Gender - the social sex.
What do we mean by a real woman? What do we mean by a real man? What does gender trouble mean? Which behaviours are individually shaped? Which behaviours are socially shaped? How does the individual deal with a discrepancy?
Many questions and their personal experiences have accompanied the search of the two dancers* on their choreographic journey.
