What has become of the "vagabonds" of German Romanticism in the age of genetically modified food and the use of agrochemicals? How is it that 200 years ago man can turn to nature in a fascinating way and feel a part of it, and then after all these years create a destructive power over nature?
The Spanish dancer Juan Tirado embodies a character who, driven by the vision to understand nature and make it more productive, becomes a man full of greed, envy, violence and power.
The idea of this project consists of a 25 min live performance musically accompanied by George Crumb's Sonata for Violoncello, played by Luise Rau of the Quillo Music Ensemble. And a Short film. "Mr. Monsanto" can be presented in its own framework using the live piece and the film as well will be possible to invite a a person who knows about the subject to give a talk that would lead to an ethical - artistic discussion with public and artist.
Both the work and the film can be also presented independently in festivals.
The stage work has a first version of 15 min. which has been made for the project JÄTEN IM PARADIES in 2020 as part of the project MILOWER LAND & LEUTE, it was a staged tour supported by the Federal Programme Rural Development LandKULTUR.
The project is directed by Yeri Anarika together with dancer Juan Tirado. Working with video artist Gunar Meinhold, cellist Luise Rau, video and photos by Bruno Renne & Paul Rohlfs.
