#the wall

Idea, Artistic director & Choreographer

"The Wall" is a contemporary dance piece that reflects on the existence of physical and invisible walls in today's globalized world through a tragicomic lens. Commissioned by Elisa Carrillo Cabrera and Mikhail Kaniskin, the piece features a national and international team who have created a contemporary discourse through dance. The German musicians Gebrüder Teichmann composed the music for the piece by fusing the rhythms of the Mexican group CitadinoSON in their electroacoustic proposal. The multimedia artist Josué Abraham Palma, illuminator Rafael Mendoza, and costume designer Carolina Jiménez complete the visual elements of the performance, while Cristina Vázquez expertly manages the project.

DESARMADOS

Choreographer & Dancer

The choreography features a female body and a male body, both generating strategies that reveal a constructed history full of power games and empowerment.

Through their movements, the dancers question and dismantle these social constructions, encouraging the audience to reflect on their own relationship to power and gender.

A work created together with the dancer Juan Tirado, the cellist Luise Rau and the pianist Max Renne, with music by Schostakovisch.

This dance piece explores the contrast between the "vagabonds" of German Romanticism who viewed themselves as part of nature and the destructive power that humanity now holds over it due to genetic modification and agrochemicals. Through the performance, Spanish dancer Juan Tirado portrays both the visionary who seeks connection to nature and the man who exercises his power through genetic manipulation, patenting, and profit maximization. The piece prompts reflection on the current state of our relationship with nature and how it has evolved over the past two centuries.
